1. Who pays for my scholarships and allowances?

   Employee scholarships and allowances / TAMs are paid by the sponsor. Sponsors can be either Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), UPM or other sponsors (one sponsor at a time). Employee is asked to review the meeting result that is informed by the letter of sponsorship during the Study Leave.

2. When payment of family allowances and housing assistance was made?

   If the sponsor is UPM, the Study Leave Section will provide a recommendation of scholarships at the rate set by the government to the Bursar that is quarterly payments (once in 3-month payment as shown below). The actual amount is determined at the Bursar level based on the current currency exchange rate.

   Payment of this allowance is applicable to overseas / TAM officers studying abroad or UPMKB officers studying leave at UPM Serdang only.

3. If I bring my spouse and 4 children to University during my Study Leave, will UPM finance my 4th child?

   the maximun number of child that will be provided financial aid olny three (3).

4. Will i received Family Assistance Allowance if my Study Leve are locally situated  and my spouse is working?

   No. Family Assistance Allowance only given to those who have been granted study leave overseas OR UPMKB officials who have been granted study leave at UPM Serdang.

   The family must remain with the employee continuously for not less than 6 (six) months.

    

5. Who pays my Family Asistance Allowance?
   

   Family Asistant Allowances are paid by UPM and subjected to existing regulations.

    

6. How do I apply for an additional Family Asistant Allowance if I got a new baby?
   

   Requests must be made by writing an official letter and attached application for Liability Increase Form of the(Permanent Officer only) which can be found on the UPM eISO website. For overseas Study Leave, applications and documents can be forwarded via the Study Leave Section email.

    

7. If I get married during the period of study leave (abroad), do I eligible to apply for Family Allowance Assistant and when is the start date of the Family Allowance Assistant ?

   May apply if the partner resides with the officer for at least 12 months from the period of study or study and scholarship approval. The start date of the sponsorship is according to the date the couple began living with the officer.

    

8. If a family member suffering from chronic and prolonged illnesses, can I take them abroad and apply for family allowance?
   

   It is not allowed as it will involve increased in medical costs and will interfere with the study of the Officers and may result in various problems in the event of a chronic illness while abroad.
