LEAN MANAGEMENT COURSE UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA

On the 4th and 5th of March 2014, The Lean Management course was organized by the Registrar's Office at the Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM Serdang. The course was attended by 30 participants from various levels. The course was conducted by officers from the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC), which were Mr. Rosmi Abdullah, Mrs. Saliza Saari and assisted by Ms. Norhasimah Ibrahim, Mr. Wan Mohd Faizol and Ms. Hidiatul.

There are four major processes as modules for this Lean Management workshop. These processes are:

  1. Process of Examination, Academic Division;
  2. Process of Visa, International Division;
  3. Process of New Graduate Student Recruitment, Graduate School;
  4. Process of Appointment Academic Officer Grade 51-53, Division of Human Resource   Management.

At the end of the program, participants were able to understand the concept of Lean Management and Value Stream Mapping method. However, there were several recommendations that could be considered to improve the efficiency of work processes. They hope that the participants could apply the Lean Management and Value Stream Mapping method as one of the culture in the organization, as to increase the productivity and maximize the customer satisfaction.

The MPC Consultant, Mrs. Saari Saliza was explaining the importance of Lean Management implementation in organizations that focus onwaste reduction and improvement of customer satisfaction.


The participants were talking about mapping processes selected during the workshop.


An ongoing discussions between participants and consultants MPC formaximum understanding on the implementation of Lean Management.


Puan Siti Rozana, UPM Registrar's Office was making presentation to the Value Stream Mapping which has been made by the group and the process suggestions which could be done to improve the efficiency of work processes results UPM students.


The relationship between MPC and UPM will continue to ensure thecontinuation of the implementation of Lean Management at UPM will successfully implemented as to increase the productivity of the organization as well as the education sector in Malaysia.
